Data Profiling - Instant - Visualisations

From All n One's bxp software Wixi

1 Overview

Visualising data is a powerful way of representing statistics and facts in a humanly understandable way through the use of graphics.

Since 1786, when William Playfair first used a bar chart, newer and more exciting ways of representing data have been sought. In 1801 William then gave us the pie charts and we have been developing on this theme ever since.

bxp software uses the FusionCharts engine to render its Bar and Pie charts. The data is generated automatically and fed into these objects and the images are created.

These objects are exportable in jpg, png, pdf and svg formats.

There are many viusalisation reports throughout BE however, there are four primary visualisation reports when working with Forms. Each of these approaches has separate significant differences

2 Instant - Visualisations

  • Visualisation - Current Status
  • Visualisation - Status by Period Analysis
  • Visualisation – Examination – User Progress Report
  • Visualisation - Contact Pattern
  • Visualisation - Latitude | Longitude points on Google Map
  • Visualisation - Quality - Trending report
  • Visualisation - Quality - Current Status report

2.1 Visualisation - Current Status

2.1.1 How the reports are generated

The system uses any closed question:

  • List / Menu
  • List / Multiple
  • Radio Button
  • Check Box

As the answers in these types of questions can be easily counted, the statistics can quickly be created and rendered (drawn) as a bar and pie charts.

The visualisation can have minor customisations applied at a Form level Data_Visualisation_Options

An open text box cannot be counted as the amount of answers simply is impossible to perform.

Counting up the total amount of answers for each value in the closed question the system renders the question.

2.1.2 Visualisation - Current Status

The Current Status report is the simplest and fastest of all the reports. It will go into the form data and count up the total amount of answers available. It then draws the information to screen.

Quite often questions have different totals. The reason for this would be

  • Record 1. Answers given were True and True
  • Record 2. Answers given were True and False
  • Record 3. Answers given were False and then no answer.

So the drawing of the first question will show 2 True and 1 False, a total of 3.

The second question will show 1 True and 1 False, a total of 2.

Compensating for agents not filling in all the fields can be compensated for using validation. Do bear in mind that not all questions may be answered in every script. It is also possible to vastly speed up the filling out of a record by pre-populating some answers with a click of button, saving on repetitive wasted answer filling.

  • Choose the form to report against.
  • A report is generated for the records that shows pie and bar charts for all of the closed questions in the campaign

2.2 Visualisation - Status by Period Analysis

The second report is also quite simple. After choosing your time period and form, with the outcomes following, that you wish to include, the report generates.

This report, as it is limited by time, will only include records that were interacted with in the chosen time period and that had at least one of the outcomes selected. The record have been interacted with several times in the period but will only be represented on the report as a count of one.

  • Choose the dates in which to report from.
  • Choose the campaign to report against.
  • A report is generated for the records that shows pie and bar charts for all of the closed questions in the campaign

2.3 Visualisation – Examination – User Progress Report

Visualisation – Examination – User Progress Report

For more information on this report please see Examination_User_Progress_Report_Visualisation

2.4 Visualisation - Contact Pattern

Visualisation - Contact Pattern

This report counts totals of contacts by period broken into segments to allow patterning of data logged.

  • Choose the dates in which to report from.
  • Choose the campaign to report against.
  • Choose the intervals (defaulted to evert 15 minutes) - X axis
  • Choose the working hours to include the reporting from
  • Choose the days to include in the report
  • The dashboard will display a table showing the total, the average and the count of all the contacts made during the period of time chosen

2.5 Visualisation - Latitude | Longitude points on Google Map

Longitude points on Google Map

For more information on this report and how it's used please review Google_LatLong_Translation

2.6 Visualisation - Quality - Trending report

Visualisation - Quality - Trending report

For more information on the trend report please read here Scenario_-_bxp_to_create_Quality_Assurance_programs#Trend_Reporting. For colouring options please read here QA_-_Scores_and_Thresholds#Ranges

2.7 Visualisation - Quality - Current Status report

Visualisation - Quality - Current Status report

This is similar to the Current Status report but adds an extra set question at the start for Pass / Fail based on the QA Header Block.

2.8 Visualisation - Status by Period Analysis

As per the report above but with the ability to specify a period.

2.9 Exporting Charts

In the most recent update to the FusionCharts library the ability to export a chart has become available.

To export a chart simply go to the chart you want to download and look at the top right corner of the chart.

There will be a button present on that chart.

Click the button and there will be four options.

  • Download as JPEG image
  • Download as PNG image
  • Download as PDF document
  • Download as SVG vector

Click the one that you need and then depending on the browser you will be prompted to save the chart.

Note: Fusion Charts do not support exportable pie charts in Internet Explorer at present but they are working on a solution.

3 Processing Time

The processing times vary depending on the report type, amount of records and the options selected.

The first report has very few limiting criteria and is only delayed by the total volume of records in the form.

So the balance between, the amount of records matching criteria and the amount of records matching the period limitations and the amount of closed questions in the script are all factors.

As guideline timing amounts:

If you run an All for this campaign, you’re looking at approximately 2 minutes to generate.

With the time factor in the queries:

  • Today: 5 seconds
  • Last Week: 30 seconds
  • This Month: 5 minutes
  • This Quarter: 10 minutes
