== Your audience ==

The decision your make regarding software is going to affect a number of people for a number of reasons. Choosing something that suits your needs does not always satisfy the entire business' requirements of the solution. The audience for any software is traditional broken into three groups of thinking.

* Executives and Upper Management
* Middle Management
* Operators and Day to Day users

This group can also be likened to their responsibilities

* Strategic
* Managerial
* Operational

Any chosen solution should be able to support and enhance the operations at all three levels.

As Information is key this leads to the model of the Information Systems Pyramid. [[Scenario_-_bxp_and_Data_Warehousing#Overview]]

The first major choice is a significant one. On Premises means that your software will be installed on your computers in your buildings. Software as a Service means that you will use the Internet to access your software.
If you do not have access to the Internet then Sofwtare Software as a Service or SaaS is a non starter, however very few places on Earth do not have Internet access at this time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Internet_usage  If however your organisation has a significant field presence the ability to get the Internet on the go and in rural areas should feature as part of your considerations. On premises for a field team is very difficult with SaaS being dependant on internet access rates needed.
This challenge is to look at what do you need the software for. The narrower the focus of the software, the more specialised it is, the better chance you have of identifying the perfect fit for your business. If you're looking for an accounting software solution there are many market options. If however you need an accounting solution that can also integrate with a Customer Service solution then the available options will change.  The broader the scope of the solution the more compromise is required by department.
((Pros and Cons))
Approaches : single solution, broader functions, erp
* Time
* Money
*
== Cost vs. Capability ==

Budget will always dictate what solution is chosen but performing a cost benefit analysis will help you to decide which solution is going to be available for you to implement.

Even if you had an unlimited budget to buy the perfect system, everyone in the organisation will have to change the way they operate to use the new approach.
== Ability to Change ==
Improved software changes work practices which takes time and introduces uncertainty.
