We implement back-up procedures on a number of levels:

The only back-ups of operational significance to bxp clients are the client back-ups. All others are internal operating procedures that have no direct client impact.




= Client Back-ups =


Every 24 hours we back-up all client databases. This is an automated procedure, managed by bxp software.

Back-ups are encrypted using AES256 and are securely stored at Sungard AS’s Park West facility. As a result of our structural approach it is possible to restore all or part of the back-up.

Back-ups are retained for six months as follows.
<p>• Daily records for the past 7 days</p>
<p>• Two back-ups from the previous week (Tuesday and Thursday)</p>
<p>• One back-up for each week dating back 6 months</p>

We do not interact with client data except by written request and restorations will be billed as client support. Clients request restoration via standard support channels. Customisation of back-up dates, times, items and encryption exceptions can be specified in the client contract and will incur additional cost.

== Equipment Replacement ==

A set of spares is maintained so that the impact of equipment failure is kept to the minimum.

== Server Swap Policy ==

In the event of server failure a suppliers SLA of replacement within 30 minutes of issue isolation is in place.

== Sungard ==

The bxp infrastructure is located with and supported by Sungard AS in Dublin. http://www.sungardas.ie/Pages/default.aspx In the event that a client requires co-location services this can be specified in the client contract and will incur additional cost.

== Live Server Recovery ==

On request from bxp, the target server is booted by Sungard AS from an R1soft Live CD to enable the recovery software to connect to the R1Soft server. Once connected, the engineer chooses a server image to recover and a point in time to recover to. The necessary data (disk blocks) are then copied from the Disk Safe on the R1Soft server and written to the disks on the target server. Once restoration is complete, the target server can be rebooted without the Live CD and normal service is resumed (subject to any caveats e.g. software licensing tied to the original server's UUID or MAC address changes.)



= Administration and support back-ups =



All client requests and jobs completed are logged and held for the duration of the client contract. All bxp email accounts are backed up monthly.
