Overview
The average BE page size is 11k but this can be affected by the amount of content on the page.
All images and styles are cached wherever possible which reduces loading times and means that BE bxp can work at dial up speed (56.6 Kbps) whilst still maintaining a modern style and design.
To find out more about the load capacity of bxp Bxp_Infrastructure_Capacity

Testing your speed
The first part is to analyse their network connections

Speedtest
Firstly run speedtest.net to get your network connection speed http://www.speedtest.net

The important bits in the middle are
* Ping: Speed to get to external server
* Download: How fast information will come in from the internet
* Upload: How fast you send information to the internet.

N.B. Please do not use anything else on this page bar the speed test itself.

tracert
The next part is do a tracert to bxp.

In Windows, open up a DOS window, (hold down the windows key and tap R, to get the Run window and in there type CMD and press return).

In the DOS window type in

tracert ww3.allnone.ie

This gives you all the pieces of equipment between your machine and the bxp servers. Also the time delay in getting to each one. The bigger the number the worse the connection.

Browser load times
The next part is to analyse their browser load times

You have a tool in modern Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) browsers which can give you time to load of a page.

Open IE. Press the F12 function key and you'll get something that looks like this

Go to the Performance tab.

Ctrl E and then load a page, then Ctrl E again.

The problem is that even if your browser is doing nothing it records this as time. So you have to be quick using the Ctrl E. So Ctrl E, as quick as possible load the page and then ONLY when the page is completely done, then Ctrl E again.

You know a page is still loading when you see that the logo in the tab is still circling. Just refresh any page you like a few times to see it. instead of

So this is the login page for bxp, it all loads up in under 2 seconds. There are parts of this this however that can be further optimized.
