= Overview = Building a test in bxp software (bxp) is the process of building a form. For each question in the form you then add scores. There are a number of configuration options but these are easiest explained in context. = Building a test = In order to build a test you need access to Form Management [[File:038.png]] and Testing Centre [[File:041.png]]. From the ''Main Menu > Form Managment > Form - Primary Management > Form - Create >'' From the drop down list choose "Examination ". Give the form a name you'll remember. There will be an extra option available to you at the bottom "Question Type". A "closed" question is a list / menu, radio button or check box. These are set answers from which the user can choose. This allows scores to be instantly calculated when a test is submitted. "Open" questions also include text boxes and text areas which do need to be manually scored later on. For this example we will choose "Closed". [[File:build_a_test_001.png]] Click "Create Form". The next screen provides you the form editing console. [[File:build_a_test_002.png]] In order to make the examination building easy to manage, choose "Examination Options" from the left hand side and change the Test types to "Ongoing". "Once off" means that once a user has logged a test, they cannot log another. "Ongoing" means they can log numerous tests. During building it is convenient to leave the test as "Ongoing" until everything is built and ready to go live, where you can set it back to being "Once off". In here there are a number of options * Test Scoring System: Percentage, GPA (Grade Point Average) and Scoring (which is a custom total points score).* Pass Mark: This is relevant to the Test Scoring System.** Percentage = 0 to 100** GPA = 0 to 4** Scoring = whatever range you require. Positive numbers greater than the value supplied are considered a pass. For some uses of the Testing Centre, the word "Examination" can be considered "harsh". Alternative words are presented as options. It is possible to change the Question types from Closed to Open and back again, but once a test has been taken or an open question added to the script, this option cannot be further changed. [[File:build_a_test_003.png]] Our sample test is going to be "Ongoing", Percentage with a pass mark of 80%, keyword of Assessment and uses only Closed questions. Click "Update Examination Settings" when done. N.B. If you need to go out and come back in to reconfigure your test at any point ''Main Menu > Form Management > Form - Primary Management > Form - Edit > Choose the test'' = Adding questions = Technically our test is built, but we don't have any questions in it. To view the test you click "Review the build" button. [[File:build_a_test_004.png]] So to add questions click "Question Addition" from the left hand side. [[File:build_a_test_005.png]] Question type allows for a number of closed question types to be selected from:* Basic - List / Menu - Closed question - Single answer* Basic - Radio Button - Closed question - Single answer* Basic - Check Box - Closed question - Multiple answers* Basic - Building True False Block - Closed question - Single answer* Basic - Yes No Block - Closed question - Single answer* Basic - Section Header - Not a question* Basic - Section Group - Not a question We start with a simple Yes / No. We put in the words of the question in the text box below. "Is this easy to use?" Notes are a guide or prompt to the person taking the test where clarification on the question may be required. We will add in "This should be obvious." for clarity and then click "Add Question". [[File:build_a_test_006.png]] We are then asked to put scores beside the answers. [[File:build_a_test_007.png]] Every answer must have a score. It is also possible to use negative marking. We click "Save weightings" when done. [[File:build_a_test_008.png]] We repeat the process of adding questions and scores until the test is built. It is also possible to use "Section Header" types and "Section Group" types to break up the script visually to make it easier for the student to navigate. = Advanced Configuration Options = There is a suite of advanced configuration options available. Clicking the yellow ~ button called Examination Management will change the console and the options available. = Rolling out your test = Only roll out your test after you have thoroughly quality checked it yourself to ensure the answers chosen give you the scores you expect. To remove all testing records and checking records, wipe all submission for roll out click "Reset for Live Use" from the console. N.B. DO NOT use this option after your test has been put live and uses have logged tests or their submissions will be wiped! Users cannot access your test until given explicit access to the test. From the console on the left choose "Grant Access" and choose the users you want to give access to. You can see who already has access by using the "Profile Access" button in the console. = Integration eCourse and Testing Centre = In the top left corner of the console you will see the name of your test and the Id in square brackets. [ ]. Take note of the Id. You can then add this test as a Stop Point or Support Point test to an eCourse. Separate access to an eCourse will need to be granted from access to the test and vice versa, as both the Testand eCourse are independent items.
