In-house server maintenance

At all n one we have a small server room to support certain services for our organisation. In order to keep these servers as secure and up to date as possible we have this process to follow:

Phone Server:

• 1. Open the start menu and navigate to windows updates. Check for the latest updates and set them to download and install.
• 2. As the phone server can not be reset during the day. You must set a diary appointment within bxp so the server can be rebooted outside of business hours by an available colleague.
• 3. Open WinSSHD and click into the sessions panel to monitor who is currently connected to the service. If their is an ip address connected to the service which is not white listed then document the IP's details and send them to Thomas Glennon. You can also check the activity tab to see if their is any malisious intent.
• 4. Open the Ccleaner application and run the application to clear up and cached data of the machine.
• 5. Open the spyware scanner "Spybot - Search and destroy" and click the "Check for problems" button.
• 6. While still in spybot - search and destroy click the "Immunize" button and wait for the scan to complete. Once completed click the "Immunize" button above the scan results to protect various data on the server.
• 7. Open up the start menu and navigate to Control Panel/Programs/Programs and features and screenshot the list of all of the software installed organised by latest installed on top.
• 8. Open up AVG file server edition and scan the full computer for any possible threats.

Papa Smurf (Active Directory): This server is updated and monitored by the Security team. Access to this server is restricted. Full security reviews are completed on this server bi-weekly
