1 Overview

bxp has always provided the users with the functionality of uploading and attaching a file to a data record (CDA) by adding it to the contact history of a record (CCL). Users had the ability to download these files attached to data records by opening the contact history for the record the file was attached to and clicking on the download link.

Previously this was the only way to download file attachments assigned to records, now users of bxp as well as no bxp users can download a file attached to a data record by the use of a custom hyperlink. This allows users of bxp to generate hyper link to a file attachment and send it onto any other bxp user or non bxp user they wish.

** Note - The hyperlink only give the recipient of the link the ability to download the file, it does not allow them to gain access to read/update the data record, this will always remain like this.

2 Getting the Download link

In order to get the download link for a file attachment you must have a bxp user account with access to the form the file is attached too. The first thing you will have to do is navigate to the form the data record is in and open the data record in question, once you have done this open the contact history for the record. Open the CCL that relates to the file you wish to get the download link, once here you will see the field External Download Link. This link is what should be used to download the file, you must copy the link out exactly as it is in bxp, as the link contains access information required by bxp to allow the download
