ECourse Version Control

1 Overview

bxp software allows you to add version control to eCourses by displaying an audit trail summary for each asset on the page. This takes the form of a summary table which displays the number of revisions made, the author, the date the asset was created, the last editor and the date and time of the last edit which appears for each asset on the page. It may be necessary for this information to be made available to all users in the system who have read access to the book so there is functionality in place to display this information to any users with read access to the eCourse.

The asset details are always visible to users with edit permissions and to the author. They can now be turned on for users with read permissions on a book by book basis.

2 Setting Up Version Control

Version control can be turned on or off for each individual book in a system. These setting can be changed in the eCourse Management module. To display the asset details on each page, go to eCourse Management -> Edit a book and then select your book.

There will be a dropdown menu on the page labelled "Display Asset Details".

This will be set to false by default so books automatically will not display the audit trail summary. Set this value to true and click save to turn on version control for the book. Any users who have read permissions for the book will then be able to view the audit trail summary.
