An Internet browser is the tool you use to view web pages from the Internet. This tool does not look at documents or images ON the Internet, instead it downloads the content to your computer and then shows them from your computer. The content can be of numerous types of media including pictures, sounds, videos.

Here is a very good explanation video of how a browser works https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=401E5A4Tges Just be careful though as it is technical.

In the early days of the Internet the content was very expensive to download and also quite slow. To improve the speed of your browsing (and reducing repeat downloads), commonly used images and pages are cached i.e. a copy is kept on your computer. So the next time you go to the web page, it doesn't need to download the image again, it already has a copy.

Modern websites and Software as a Service means that the same web page changes data frequently, but the cache will take a static picture and is stored by the browser. Sometimes, data in the cache is out of date and your browser doesn't bother retrieving the latest version. This means you can get unexpected and unwanted effects within your browser.

You may need to clear out your browsers cache from time to time. This site gives instructions for all different browser types.:
