From time to time you may wish to copy and paste a table into bxp from Excel.

Excel formatting is not compatible with HTML formatting by default but there can be work arounds.

Here is a process which can help you get your text table out of Excel and neatly into bxp.

  1. Open your spreadsheet with your table
  2. File > Save as.
  3. Change the "Save as type:" from "Excel Workbook" to "Web Page (*.htm;*.html)
  4. Save the file to your desktop
  5. Minimise everything and find your new HTM file on your desktop
  6. Open this file in a browser by double clicking it.
  7. From the browser window, click in it and holding down Ctrl on the keyboard, press the letter A (this will select all)
  8. Now Ctrl and the letter c (for copy)
  9. Go into bxp software, into a rich text box HTML_Editing_Area_Version_2, such as that in Information Centre and ctrl and V (for paste)

Providing your table isn't too complex it should now be visible properly formatted for HTML.

If you are a HTML fan, Excel will add an awful lot of duff and dud HTML which isn't necessary, however this is a quick and easy way to get a table from Excel into HTML.

Images, objects and embedded items simply won't transfer unless you modify the HTML directly, so this method is only for text based tables.
