From time to time you may wish to copy and paste a table into bxp software from Excel.
Excel formatting is not compatible with HTML formatting by default but there can be work arounds.
Here is a process which can help you get your text table out of Excel and neatly into Buinsess Express.
- Open your spreadsheet with your table
- File > Save as.
- Change the "Save as type:" from "Excel Workbook" to "Web Page (*.htm;*.html)
- Save the file to your desktop
- Minimise everything and find your new HTM file on your desktop
- Open this file in a browser by double clicking it.
- From the browser window, click in it and holding down Ctrl on the keyboard, press the letter A (this will select all)
- Now Ctrl and the letter c (for copy)
- Go into bxp software, into a rich text box, such as that in Information Centre and ctrl and V (for paste)
Providing your table isn't too complext it should now be visible properly formatted for HTML.
If you are a HTML fan, Excel will add an awful lot of duff and dud HTML which isn't necessary, however this is a quick and easy way to get a table from Excel into HTML.
Images, objects and embedded items simply won't transfer unless you modify HTML directly, so this method is only for text based tables.
