QA - Scores and Thresholds

1 Introduction

In QA for every assessment there are two distinct scoring and outcome results for each assessment.

Scoring allows a score to be calculated.

Threshold is a simple Pass or Fail result.

Ranges are used for graphical overlay and key location colouring.

2 Basic Use

When setting up a QA assessment, you may want to provide ranges for assessment purposes and graphical displaying of trends. The field "Pass mark" usually contains a number. e.g. 80 for 80% to Pass. Anything less than 80% is a Fail.

The "Pass mark" is found from Main Menu > Form Management > Form - Edit > Choose your QA Form > Choose Quality Options from the console on the left > In the "Create Options" section on the right, the "Pass mark" field can be found.

3 Ranges

These are used in the rendering or reports and allows for various colouring options throughout QA.

You provide the layouts in the following format: 50-clear;70-red;80-yellow;90-green;100-blue-Exceptional;

It then allows "less than" ranges. So if less than 50 colour the section is clear. If less than 70 but more than 50, colour the section is red and so on. The last parameter is the name of the threshold, which can be used if needed.

The colours available are clear, red, green, blue, cyan, maygenta, yellow, orange, grey, white, black.

Alternately you can use hex codes, if you include the # symbol. 3 or 6 character formats are accepted.

If the format does not match, then the default background colours will be used instead.

4 Instant Fail a whole assessment

This process of splitting the Score and the Threshold, also allows for the introduction of an instant fail without the need to introduce negative marking.

Say for example there is a really important question in your QA script e.g. Data Protection laws were adhered to?

Firstly the option to allow an instant Fail keyword to be used must be turned on. It is by default set to True. Main Menu > Form Management > Form - Primary Management > Form - Edit > Choose your Form > From the console on the left choose Quality Options > In the Create section on the right find "Allow Fail All"

A special code "Fail" without the double inverted comma can be put into the weighting box of any weighted question.

This will result in a score of 0 being issued to the question, but overall, no matter what score the user gets, the assessment will show a Threshold of Fail.

This approach allows averages to be maintained without the need for negative scoring and still represent an assessment as a fail.

5 Score Locking

This is used to lock the scores given to an assessment. It prevents re-scoring after Coaching / SMARTER plans have been sent out. This is designed to all keep things fair once the assessments have been deemed to have finished being assessed.

Score locking is enabled by default but can be turned off if required after release.

Main Menu > Form Management > Form - Primary Management > Form - Edit > Choose your Form > From the console on the left choose Quality Options > In the Create section on the right find "Score Locking". Set to false will allow all assessments to be re-scored.

The locking adds the word "Locked" to the score at the top of the page and in the section headers.
