bxp software uses a number of pre-built types. One of these types is the Complex – Title Block. The title block consists of 4 input fields, the first of which is a select box with titles in it.
There are many titles in the world.
Mr, Ms, Mme, Dr, Fr and so
There are many variations for each type as well
Mr. Mr MR MR.
Consistency and space usage in bxp is extremely important.
bxp has a base standard list to ensure consistency. This standard list, to be consistent across all variations, means that 1 = Mr Mr. MR MR., 2 = Ms. Ms MS MS., and so on.
As this is a number it also saves space when storing the item in the database. For speed purposes it also makes listing and lookup much easier as the database matching on numbers is far more precise than text based matching.
One of the complications of this process is that the titles must be converted to their representative numeric value. To save a ton of effort in this regard bxp has a function which will perform this tidy up in seconds.
Main Menu > Database Management > Data Cleaning > Data field – Convert Title to Numeric
As bxp is unable to take personal responsibility for just “converting” data on behalf of our clients, we must ensure that our clients decide to use the function and on which fields as the conversion process does not just have to be on the title field, as a title drop down list could be any field in a campaign
